Mom & Dad

It’s hard to think about a person’s folks dating. This was a vacation my mom’s parents and brothers took to New Mexico…my dad got to go along…what happened to the mules? and the cowboy hat?

That’s just weird to me…their dating- I know, I took Brad with me on vacations but it’s hard to think that your parents had the same feelings you did when you dated.

TMI! TMI! (“too much info” as my pre-adolescent grandson would say)

Anyway weren’t they the most beautiful couple you have ever seen?

I LOVE MOM’S DRESS

More of the Good Ole Fifties…Can Cans and a lot of Starch! I remember my mom letting me iron along with her…she always gave me pillow cases and hankies to touch up. That was just part of a woman’s day during the fifties. She would sprinkle the clothes down with a pop bottle fitted with a sprinkler top (a metal fluted looking piece pierced with holes on the top and a cork bottom which fit snugly into a pop bottle). This allowed you to fill the pop bottle up with water and lightly dampen the clothes for better ironing. Ahhh The Good Ole Days. I don’t iron much today, unless I just have to. But when I do, I think it’s very therapeutic- I wonder if they thought it was back then?
